Why it’s shaped this way
Charging for the writing surface would put a paywall between a writer and their own draft, and it would kill the only growth loop that works here: people sharing reads of scenes they just wrote. The editor is the top of the funnel, not the product.
Charging per collaborator would tax the one thing that makes a draft better — more people reading it. It would also strangle the only growth loop this product has: every script sent out for notes brings a writer in. Free commenting is a business decision, not generosity.
A reader working through your pages costs us real money per pass, and it’s the thing worth paying for. Everything that costs us nothing — the editor, the import, the export, the browser-voice read, commenting — stays free, at any tier, forever.
The editor and local reads work today. Premium voices, share pages and full-script analysis land with the beta. In the meantime, the most useful thing you can do is write a scene in it and tell us what broke.
